This piece by Rudolph Blaumanis, a Latvian classic writer, is based on the conflict of two generations: a difference of opinion becomes a source of contention and leads to the dispute about the inheritance, which gets "solved" with a forged letter...
For his first production on a big stage Elmar Senkov has chosen the same creative team of young designers, with whom he had worked on the project "A Faceted Glass", i.e. Reinis Dzudzilo, the set designer, Krista Dzudzilo, the costume designer.
Elmar Senkov says, "Our goal is to tell this well-known old story as if anew - to find a solution that would entice the audience; and we're going to enthrall the viewers with a fine and precise psychological performance. The actors will have to break the prevailing ideas about the characters and to construct the new image to the smallest detail.
We want to focus on the changing eras - the arrival of a new generation and new time that demands changes. And let's ask ourselves: what should we do with the old one? How should we treat our past? In our thirst for the New - what do we expect, what do we want? And if the answer is "love for life," "love of our loved ones," then it is a very difficult lesson..."
