Petrograd, 1920.
The world has turned upside down. The past cannot be held, the future cannot be predicted, and most importantly, there is no time to listen to the voice of conscience, because the main goal is to survive. But for the sake of what? Or for the sake of whom? A general's youngest daughter, Lyudmila Mukovnina, is looking for entertainment. His eldest daughter, Maria, a wife of a commissar in Budyonny's army, teaches the soldiers to read. The conflict of "political interests" does not prevent the family members from missing each other - moreover, for her relatives, Maria turns into an ideal, into an angel, into the only support in the world. Everyone lives in anticipation of her return - then everything will be fine, even if an epoch is crumbling and building up, and people gain and lose money, power, love, hope, faith...
NB! Smoking on-stage.
